“Guira King” (Jason Cuellar) is DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist living and working in Austin, Texas. His genre specialties are cumbia, Latin rock, rock, reggaetón, and house music.
The nickname “Guira King” was given to him by close friend “DJ LaMoon” (Kristiany Vissepó) for playing ‘la Guira’, a metallic percussion instrument used in Cumbia, in bars and clubs to get the people dancing!
Jason Cuellar is a first-generation, Mexican-American born & bred in Austin, Texas. The son of two Mexican immigrants, he was raised with Mexican heritage and Texas culture.
Jason’s love of music started at a young age and only evolved over time. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, his biggest influences were Juanes, The Beatles, and cumbia.
From playing saxophone in the school band, to playing guitar & bass in a cumbia band, to now DJing and producing his own music, Jason has carved his own path into the music scene.
Jason still lives in Austin, Texas, where he is actively involved in the cumbia music scene and spends his time playing with other cumbia musicians and DJing events.
