James Shelton was an American Broadway actor, composer, and lyricist, best known for writing the song "Lilac Wine" (1950) for the revue Dance Me a Song. He contributed music and lyrics to several mid-20th-century revues, including New Faces of 1934 and Almost Crazy. His composition "Lilac Wine" was later widely recorded by numerous performers.
