About

A spellbinding musical journey — and a story you've likely never heard. Flamenco India traces the deep Indian roots of Spain's Romani (Gypsy) flamenco tradition, uniting world-class dancers and musicians from both lineages in one electrifying night of rhythm, energy, and history brought to life.

Leading the guitar work is Romani flamenco virtuoso Chuscales Jose Valle ("Chusco") — raised in the caves of Sacromonte among a family of legendary flamenco musicians, and mentored personally by the great Paco de Lucía. He's joined by powerhouse flamenco vocalist Jose Cortés of Almería, steeped in the tradition of flamenco's greatest names. Directing the production is Austin's own Oliver Rajamani, a pioneering force in Indian-flamenco fusion whose artistry moved Paco de Lucía himself to call it "beautiful, unique and historic."

The stage comes alive further with the thunderous footwork of Kathak dancer Labonee Mohanta, the passion of flamenco dancer Bianca Rodriguez, the soaring voice of Hindustani vocalist Ashwini Deshpande, composer/violinist Roberto Riggio, and a full ensemble of strings and percussion.

Two cultures. One ancient bloodline. A night of music history rarely told — and not to be missed.
