Get ready for a high-energy, genre-bending night at Flamingo
Cantina on September 18th.
Los Skarnales have been a
force in the Texas music scene since forming in Houston in 1994. Led by
founding vocalist Felipe
Galvan, the legendary Vatos Rudos fuse ska, reggae, cumbia, rockabilly, danzón and
Chicano soul with a fierce punk-rock attitude.
Known for explosive live shows, they’ve shared stages with Flaco Jiménez,
Ozomatli, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, The Specials, Fishbone, The Slackers and
many more.
More than 30 years later, Los Skarnales are still going
strong. In 2026, the band made its New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival debut and performed at Belgium’s Sjock Festival, continuing
to take their unmistakable Pachuco-Boogie sound beyond Texas.
Their newest release, “Cumbia Pachucona,”
features Mexican artists El
Gran Silencio and Son Rompe Pera, adding
another chapter to the band’s signature collision of Mexican-American roots,
cumbia, ska and punk.
Rat King Cole is a San
Antonio-based ska-jazz
fusion band formed in 2013. Blending upbeat ska, jazz, reggae, and funk, the band is known for energetic live shows, infectious grooves,
and a sound built to keep crowds dancing. Drawing inspiration from jazz legends
and artists like Fishbone,
Bob Marley, and the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble,
Rat King Cole puts a fresh Texas spin on ska-jazz.
