The Meditations—Ansel Cridland, Danny Clarke and Winston
Watson—are Jamaica’s legendary reggae harmony
trio. Formed in the 1970s, the group recorded their first hit, “Woman Is Like a Shadow,” at Channel One Recording Studio in 1974 and cemented their place in
reggae history with albums including Message
From The Meditations, Wake
Up and Guidance.
Renowned for their distinctive harmonies, The Meditations
collaborated with legendary producer Lee “Scratch” Perry and
provided backing vocals for Bob
Marley & The Wailers on recordings
including “Punky Reggae Party,” “Rastaman Live Up” and “Blackman Redemption.”
Their harmonies can also be heard on recordings by Jimmy Cliff
and Gregory Isaacs.
Over the decades, The Meditations continued recording
acclaimed albums including No More Friend, Return of The Meditations, Ghetto Knowledge, Stand in Love and Dangerous Society. With a career spanning more than four decades, The Meditations remain an enduring force in
roots reggae, bringing their unmistakable Jamaican harmony sound to audiences
around the world.
