Kevin Flatt was born and raised in Arlington, TX. At an early age, and with the help from a musical and supporting family, he began to learn trumpet and guitar. Kevin took his knowledge and love for music to The University of Texas in Austin to work towards a Bachelors Degree in Trumpet Performance. Now, with years of experience and knowledge from teachers such as Ken Callaway, Ray Sasaki, Jeff Helmer, John Mills, Ron Westray, & Dennis Dotson, Kevin has become a successful freelance musician in the Austin, TX area.
Kevin plays regularly with his group K Flatt & Friends, and many more.
K Flatt & Friends is a sextet formed and led by Kevin Flatt. The group performs Kevin’s original music, as well as some favorite pieces from a wide variety of artists.This group is a passion project after being a noted freelance musician and sideman in Austin for many years. The Sextet is an instrumental group performing jazz/soul/funk/R&B/avant-garde music that paints a picture and always tells a story.
